You will wear many hats and be very overworked (no time for lunch or breaks, pressured to come in early or stay late to get the job done) because they are consistently understaffed. If you are a 'new wave' clinician you may have a hard time adjusting to the 'old school' therapeutic communities model. The bad: There are many employees who disapprove of mental health counselors/social workers, feeling that only CASACs can do the job effectively. There are a lot of good employees who want to work as a team, but. There are many opportunities for promotions and if you have a strong work ethic and leadership skills, you can quickly move up the ranks. The good: You will have the opportunity to make a positive impact, the work is difficult but meaningful.
You must be very patient, assertive, and optimistic to work at OH.
